Description
This is from a new source of natural blue tourmaline from Zimbabwe. Only very small amounts are mined and most of it is tiny and not facet quality. The color is a wonderful steel blue and because this is open-axis tourmaline it is bright throughout with no dark areas. It has a few minor veils but they are not obvious and the stone has great brilliance. It is completely untreated.
We believe this is actually the uvite/dravite variety of tourmaline rather than the more common elbaite, which makes it of extra interest to collectors of rare and unusual gems.
This stone comes with an independent certification from a Jewellery Council of South Africa accredited, FGA-qualified gem laboratory.
